Exchange students at KTH

KTH is a popular university for international students. During 2009 KTH received 1349 exchange students and 1500 international master's students. KTH has more international students than any other university in Sweden and nearly 100 nationalities are represented.

The majority of the exchange students come from Europe, with Germany and France as the most frequent countries of origin. However, KTH also welcomes students from Asia, the US, Australia and Latin America every year.

Who can become an exchange student at KTH?

In order to be accepted at KTH as an exchange student, the applicant must be enrolled at a partner university, i.e. one with which KTH has an exchange agreement.

Exchange students are nominated by their home university but the final decision of acceptance is made by KTH and is based on the individual assessment of each application. A minimum requirement is that exchange students applying to KTH have completed at least two years of the educational programme at their home university, with grades above average.

Contact the International Office or equivalent at your home university for more information regarding exchange opportunities. It is the responsibility of the exchange students to ensure their eligibility for participation in an exchange programme.

Projects for exchange students

Exchange students can request to perform a final degree project/Master's thesis, at KTH. However, there is no service provided to match student requests with research projects at KTH and therefore students cannot be guaranteed to be accepted for a project. A student who wants to carry out a project must contact a relevant research group or professor directly and make the arrangements with them. If you are accepted by the research group/professor, you should contact your International coordinator at KTH.

Internships

Internships are only available through special programmes; e.g students enrolled at the NUS Overseas Campus. Other students can not be assisted via KTH.

The Chemical Engineering research is also associated with the research forumSkogsindustriell förädling och energiteknikand the research centrePaper Surface Centre.

The Pulp Technology group hosts international annualworkshopsin chemical pulping or cellulose.

When studying Chemical Engineering at Karlstad University you can choose to specialize in Pulp, Paper, Surface Treatment and Graphic Technology.

Chemical Engineering 300 ECTS

After this programme, with the major Pulp, Paper, Surface Treatment and Graphic Technology, you can for example work with development of new p说明: http://www.kau.se/sites/default/files/Bilder-genre-profil/Kemiteknik.jpgroducts and processes. Your working place may be a producing plant or a supplyer to the pulp and paper industry. You also have a substantial knowledge in energy and environmental technology that is valuable for the industry and public sector.

Chemical Engineering 180 ECTS

In this programme you also have the option to specialize in Pulp, Paper, Surface Treatment and Graphic Technology. After this education it is likely that you will work more hands-on than after the longer programme, but the labour market is partly quite similar for both engineer types.

Master Programme

The Master programme in Chemical Engineering is also based on Pulp, Paper, Surface Treatment and Graphic Technology. As a Master of Chemical Engineering you can be in charge of process and production in the paper and pulp industry and similar industries, such as the process or power industry. You can work process and product development, or be responsible for issues of the environment, cycles, and recycling in the public or private sector. You will have a solid foundation in technology, natural sciences, and mathematics, as well as the ability to cooperate and communicate. Your competencies will be of use in many technical areas, especially where creativity, leadership, and a holistic view are also required.

Doctoral Programme

The aim of the doctoral education is to give a deepend theoretical and experimental knowledge within the subject, and to develop scientific creativity, reflection and critical thinking. The PhD student shall also develop an ability to independent scientific work with project planning and spreading of information in scientific and industrial articles and presentations. The education leads to a licentiate and/or a doctoral degree.

The work often has a direct link to the industrial application, which means that the research has an active support from industrial partners.
