MSc degrees in pulp and paper science and technology in Norway are awarded as MSc degrees in chemical engineering, with specialization in pulp and paper science and technology. The degrees are given by theDepartment of Chemical Engineeringat theNorwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The study is aimed directly towards the Master’s degree, accepts students with a valid high school exam, and no BSc degree is awarded. The MSc study is highly programmed, originally modelled after the German "diplomingenieur" study. Study time is 5 years for all students accepted from 1998 and onwards.

The history of the University dates back to 1931, when the Leningrad Promcooperation Institute was founded. In 1959 it was renamed into the Leningrad Technological Institute for the Pulp and Paper Industry. In 1993, the Institute got the status of University and was renamed into the Saint Petersburg State Technological University of Plant Polymers. Beginning in the fifties, research works dealing with pulp, paper and board production were being carried out actively in the University.
